The Croc of Balmorhea

from $25.00

Ancient things appear in all kinds of unusual places. Take the world’s largest spring-fed swimming pool built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930’s in Balmorhea, Texas. Legend has it the fresh water fish in that pool sang a song of safety from all crocodiles! The Croc heard their song all the way down in the Gulf of Mexico and traveled his way up the Rio Bravo, across hill and dell until he came to Lake Balmorhea. He spends his time between the lake and the bathing pools, whose depths are as much as 25 feet - deep enough for scuba divers and ancient predators! There are no more fish songs in the pools today, only the babbling of the water and the swish of his tail on his passage back and forth from the lake to the pools. (There is also no real crocodile in Lake Balmorhea or in the spring fed pools there!)

Surrealist image created on iPad.

Printed on archival paper that is 100% cotton and 18 mil thick.

Image is sold unframed without watermarks. Shipping is included.
